The Wedding

On Saturday Bridget and Michael were married in South Melbourne with the reception at Riverland. A great day/night had by all. A couple of weeks off for the happy couple touring
the wilds of New Zealand.

BBB is holding a cupping this Sunday for baristas, Justin will lead people through a couple of Cup of excellence coffees and other interesting single origins. The Guatemalan CoE was Coffee of the Day Saturday with some great results.
Clover this week will feature some more experimental
singles.....

Coffee Harvest

A quick note that the girls had a great time up north. Thanks for everyone who showed them around and gave them their time.

Toshi and Justin are back from the golden bean. We were awarded a bronze for the Australian section.

Port o Lab

Cup, take notes, and file.. that's been our mantra here when cupping coffee. The only trouble has been a draw full of cupping notes not entered in the computer. So enter the handheld with a nifty little bit of software called port o lab..

CoE coffee this week will be the Guat
from about Wednesday on.. The Kenyan tembo is also outstanding through the clover.. We have purchased the remaining bin 459 as well so that should also arrive this well.. Should we call it direct trade? Making some changes to some filter coffees this week and we also are trying out a gene cafe home roaster as a sample roaster.. We also have a new 3 group synesso for St Ali coming in for Christmas.. we will remove the current workhorse and
give it a good descale and checkup.. Some new staff as well, Trent has moved out to Apte and we have Laura, Taylor, and Shona start in the city and South Melbourne..

Cup of Excellence..

We have had alot of interest in the cup of excellence, not just the coffee the program etc..
So the best place to check it out is here.. Please look through the site and check out the individual lots, then the farmers comments and then cuppers notes.

The coffees are expensive and you can see what the farmer was paid, and thats in US $ per Pound .. Pretty transparent.

Anyway we have tried the Nicaragua Las Termopilas and the Brazil Fazenda Pedra Preta, both worth the effect to get them here..

Cupping notes..
Well the Nic org CoE has been a stand out..really clean with buttery body and silkly smooth long aftertaste..We also have some Panama Baru Indian High which is quite typical panama but with some great sweet tones. So great balance fruit, medium body and clean. The bin 549 has been cupped to death with everyone elbowing in to check out the action and some kenyan AA tempo which was roasted today and hasn't been cupped..We will put the Kenyan and Panama up on the clover as well as the CoE Nic..

Toshi and Justin are up at the Golden Bean thingy and Bec & Bridget are just back from the Northern NSW checking out the Coffee harvest. Might I just say a 500k harvester is not something I'd encourage the girls to take for a spin.. So we will be having a slide night of the recent trips.
Till next week MD
